I’ve frequently been asked the question “Do I really need to use toner?” or “How does toner work?”. Adding toner into your skin care regime can be very beneficial and here’s how:
Using a toner balances the pH level of our skin. This is important because cleansing can sometimes throw off the natural balance of the skin due to the alkaline nature of the soap. Our skin is acidic by nature and has a pH balance between 5-6 on a pH scale of 0-14.
Toners are also humectants which means they help to bind moisture to the skin.
Using a cotton ball and swiping a toner over the skin can remove excess oils causing the pores to appear smaller.
Prevent ingrown hairs:
Some toners may contain ingredients like glycolic or alpha hydroxyl acids that can help to prevent ingrown hairs.
So which Toner are you going to add to your skin care routine? My personal favorite is the Enviorn Alpha Toner Forte, it features glycolic acid and especially helps my breakout prone skin. I recommend it to all of my clients who are investing in advanced treatments!
