Your Guide to Injectables & Fillers in Gurnee, IL

In many ways, the skin on your face can tell the story of your experiences, good and bad. Crow’s feet, frown lines, sun spots, and skin laxity are all a part of getting older. While aging skin is normal, it doesn’t always have to be something that you resign yourself to. If you are interested in rejuvenating the skin on your face, relaxing some of the wrinkles, and giving your face a more youthful contour, our injectables & fillers at ALC Medspa can be an effective way to achieve all three.

The high quantity of different types of injectables & fillers that are on the market today can make choosing the right treatments a challenge. That’s why it is always a good idea to set up a consultation with an experienced and trusted injector. We want you to receive the treatments that are right for you and to come away from our clinic feeling beautiful, inside and out.

What Are the Different Types of Injectables and Fillers?

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators are injectables that are designed to limit the movement of certain precise muscles in the face. The active ingredient that is used, botulinum toxin type A, works by strategically weakening muscles in the face. This helps to smooth out wrinkles in certain dynamic areas of the face such as the forehead, the 11’s between the eyes, and crow’s feet. When performed by an experienced injector, the treatment will erase wrinkles without making it look like you’ve had any work done.

Botox

Out of all of the injectables & fillers on the market, Botox may be one of the most widely recognized. Its prominence also means that it is one of the most researched and trusted products. Today, injectors have moved away from heavy-handed injection approaches to the light and natural-looking treatments that we use in our clinic. With our injections, the deep lines in your forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes can melt away while still allowing natural movement in your face.

Dysport

Dysport may be less well-known, but it is an equally effective neuromodulator that we love using in our clinic. This product features a formula that is more diluted than Botox. This allows the product to spread more quickly through larger areas. It is often used for forehead lines and frown lines.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are substances that help minimize wrinkles, sagging, and other signs of aging by adding volume to certain areas. They can be used all over the face and are highly customizable. Many dermal fillers are made with synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is already found in the body and can be absorbed by the body within a few months.

Juvéderm®

One of the major lines of dermal fillers is Juvéderm. This line of injectables can be used to plump your lips, add volume to your cheeks, create a better shape in your chin and jawline, and minimize wrinkles. These products are designed to perform well while you smile, frown, or make other facial expressions and the results can be seen as soon as the treatment is done.

Restylane®

Restylane has unique hyaluronic acid products that can be used to reduce wrinkles and folds, smooth out nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and add soft volume to the lips. If you have deep lines on your face, wrinkles around your mouth, thin lips, or loss of volume in your face, Restylane is one option that you can consider.

Bellafill

Bellafill is unique among fillers because it is designed to not only provide volume but also to provide longer-lasting results through increased collagen growth. The polymethyl methacrylate microspheres are injected into the tissue using a collagen gel. Once the substance is in the treatment area, the ingredients get to work. The gel serves to create immediate results similar to those of an HA filler, but the filler also begins building the framework for collagen to form. The PMMA beads do not get absorbed into the body, meaning you get to enjoy the results for years. It’s the perfect solution for those who don’t want to come in for frequent injections.

Fat Dissolving Treatments

While some cosmetic concerns can be caused by the shrinking of fat cells and the loss of volume in the face, others can be caused by fat in the wrong places. Submental fat, or fat that accumulates under the chin, is a common area of concern for our patients. Injectables can be used in this area to help dissolve fat where it isn’t wanted.

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable made from deoxycholic acid. This substance, used in the digestive system to dissolve dietary fat, can help to melt away submental fullness. When injected into the fat layer on the underside of the chin, Kybella starts destroying the fat cells that store stubborn fat. After the cells are destroyed by Kybella, they are gone for good and can’t store fat in that area anymore. Your body absorbs the destroyed fat cells, which can leave the area under the chin much more defined.
