The LightSheer DUET by Lumenis is the Gold Standard in laser hair removal. The DUET system offers several innovative improvements over previous laser hair removal systems. Vacuum assisted technology combined with a larger spot size enables a greater depth of penetration and improved absorption of energy at the hair follicle. These improvements mean up to a 75% decrease in treatment times.
Due to the different factors involved with laser hair removal, no one can accurately predict the exact number of treatments needed. For this reason, we offer a 1 year service guarantee with all our laser hair removal packages. Once you have completed your 5th treatment, the guarantee includes additional treatments at no charge for one year. After that time you are eligible for one free maintenance per year.
There is not a laser on the market that has been FDA approved for the claim of permanent hair removal. However, the LightSheer™ Diode was the first to be cleared by the FDA for permanent hair reduction. That is defined by the FDA as 85% or greater permanent hair reduction. It is possible that follicles in the treated area are sufficiently damaged to the point where they only produce only finer, light hairs which do not respond to further treatment. This is backed up by extensive clinical studies.
The LightSheer™ laser hair removal operates at 800nm, which is a depth allowing it to target melanin in the hair follicle. Other lasers on the market may claim to effectively treat hair follicles but do not achieve the proper nanometer depth. Without the proper depth, the hair follicles will not be treated. Our laser has been proven through clinical testing and shown to consistently provide results.
Pain tolerance is unique to every individual, but most people tolerate the procedure very well. Contributing factors include color, coarseness and density of the hair in the treatment areas. The LightSheer™ Diode helps to alleviate discomfort by using an integrated chill tip and the vacuum assisted technology.
At each treatment only 10-20% of the hair is affected due to the hair growth cycle. There are also a variety of factors that can influence the total number of treatments necessary to achieve the desired result. Therefore, we recommend at least 5 treatments, and also include our 1 year guarantee with all our laser hair removal packages.
Influenced by the hair growth cycle, facial areas are treated every 6-8 weeks, and body areas are treated every 8-10 weeks.
Post treatment reactions vary depending on the coarseness, density and color of the hair being treated. In general, most patients experience redness similar to a mild sunburn. This may last up to 30 minutes after a treatment. We apply products based on each person’s reaction after treatments to help minimize redness.
Our laser is approved for all skin types. Regarding tanned skin, to achieve optimal results, it is best to avoid sun exposure to treatment areas. Although, if you have a fresh tan when you come in for your appointment, we can adjust the treatment parameters to safely treat you.
Unfortunately, blonde and gray hairs are not able to be treated at this time with any kind of laser. The laser is attracted to pigmentation, and with blonde or gray hairs, there is an absence of that. Depending on how much pigmentation there is in the red hair, it may be receptive to treatment.
No, we ask that you shave the areas you want like treated 1-2 days before each treatment.
Yes, anything other than shaving or trimming the hairs will inhibit your treatments.
You will notice a difference after your first treatment. It takes 2-3 weeks for your hair to shed out. After that, you will experience a time of slowed or no growth in the treated areas which will last for several weeks. Generally around the 3rd or 4th treatment, you will notice a reduction in the amount of hair that grows back.
Please document any and all medications when you arrive for your complimentary consultation. The treatment provider will review them and discuss any concerns they may have. Also, if there are any changes in your medications or medical history between appointments, please provide this information to your provider.
This will depend on your and your physician’s comfort level. Our clinic has continued to treat numerous women while going through their pregnancy without any adverse effects to them or their baby. If you do become pregnant while going through your treatments, please let your provider know.
